Perhaps the greatest creation of all is re-creation, as life blooms new from history….David Hucks Nov. 2009

The Conway Independent Business Association,  in response to the new interest in the Conway, SC historic district has begun investigating social media as ways to reach Generations X and Y.

Over 20 business leaders met at the Third and Elm Coffee shop last week to discuss the upcoming downtown Christmas Season and investigate how to grow awareness of the Historic District which is a natural attraction for twenty and thirty year olds who have waned on malls and mega stores.

The group is looking at having members begin working their own social networks on sites like Myrtle-Beach.com, facebook, myspace, youtube, twitter, and more.

Over 75 stores are represented by the downtown district.  Being a coastal city,  Conway’s history is a fabric of early America.  The town is best known as an entry into Myrtle Beach, S.C. today,  but has a rich and undiscovered history for those born after 1972.

With a nearby growing college,  Coastal Carolina University,  a strong and growing retirement community who is migrating into the area,  and a boom in local high school growth,  Conway merchants are looking at Social networking for the first time as a community.

The Historic District is one of the most beautiful downtown landscapes in South Carolina.
